Introduction
The IBM Storage Software team is looking for a Ceph L3 Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this role, you’ll be required to have a deep background in Linux storage system administration and development. In this role, you will deliver an outstanding sustaining experience to our Ceph and its layered product support teams and customers. You will be an escalation point for critical customer issues and a mentor across the globe for L2 Support Engineers and partners. As a Ceph L3 Engineer, you will need to have experience with large and complex systems and be able to think creatively, learn new things, and adapt to a constantly changing environment.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
You will handle the most highly escalated cases by our support/L2 teams to ensure they receive top-level help to provide better customer experience on their most impactful issues.
You will be responsible for providing help to L2 support engineers.
You will be part of Ceph development teams where you must fix customer-reported issues to ensure our customers and partners receive an enterprise-class product.
You will work to exceed customer expectations by providing outstanding sustaining service and ensuring that regular updates are provided to L2 teams.
You will need to understand our customer’s and partner’s needs and work with product management teams on driving these features and fixes directly into the product.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 4 – 15 years of industry experience in Web Frontend or Frontend heavy fullstack software development, distributed systems, microservices architecture
- Product development experience in Public Cloud and experience of customize deployment on Public Clouds using Templates
- Proven knowledge of S/W development process & tools for product development/debugging using JavaScript, TypeScript languages.
- GUI development using Functional React components (preferably), Reactjs or Angular, Bootstap, CSS, Asynchronous programming and related frameworks for web application development.
- Experience using React hooks, Redux, state management in React and working with REST APIs, JSON/XML/Protobuf data formats.
- Product development/usage experience on Linux/Windows operating systems for user level programming and test.
- Good understanding of User Experience design and working with UX team on product GUI design and development based on requirements.
- Good understanding of Block Storage, Object Storage, Storage NVME, iSCSI/SCSI protocols, Cloud Storage
- Proven Storage domain knowledge with hands-on experience on GUI development for storage workflows.
- Experience in developing queries and mutations in GraphQL
- Experience working with Nodejs, Express server as backend for frontend.
- Good problem-solving skills for complex issues with interdependencies across multiple modules
- Knowledge and experience in containerisation using Docker, Kubernetes and OCP
- Hands-on experience and knowledge of data structures and algorithms
- Ability to crisply communicate with stake holders for resolving issues.
- Knowledge and hand-on usage of code and defect management tools.
- Ability to meticulously plan and detail test executions and identifying dependencies.
- Good written/verbal communication skills to report program status crisply and accurately.
- Experience working with Global teams.
- Good technical leadership skills to mentor new team members.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Knowledge of Opensource development, and working experience in Opensource projects.
Certifications related to Ceph storage and performance testing are a plus.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their storage services.
Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and logging frameworks.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
Knowledge of AI/ML, exposure to Gen AI
