Job Description
This individual will possess an understanding in the areas of statistics, measurement, project design, demographic methods, and forecasting. They will provide project leadership to team members in order to keep a schedule and meet deadlines. They will be responsible for the production, quality, deployment, and documentation of methodologies and content for Truven Health Analytics clients. This person will be required to make independent and assisted judgment calls regarding the content development process and deliverables. The person should have skills in SQL, an understanding of relational databases and concepts, and well versed in the Microsoft Suite (e.g. Excel and Word). In addition, an ability to focus on details as well as having an overall perspective of the use and relationship of the methodologies and data is important.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage direct reports for Applied Analytics project work.
  • Collaborate with Product Management on Content Requirements.
  • Provide project leadership and direction to team members.
  • Interact with internal knowledge experts and reference data resources.
  • Provide input to staff that create content specifications.
  • Provide insight and feedback as it relates to project work.
  • Responsible for managing resources for projects.
  • Responsible for implementing analytic standards as it relates to project work.
  • Serves as liaison between staff and product leaders for keeping product deadlines.

Other Duties/Responsibilities
  • Communicate with external and internal clients
  • Work with director, project manager and product management to ensure timelines on deliverables
  • Implement or guide process improvements as appropriate

  • Directly supervises a team of analysts and statisticians.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
  • Ability to multi-task: able to manage two or more disparate projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality or deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to discuss technical issues with technical and non-technical audiences and work in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to estimate and meet realistic timelines and communicate with the team accordingly
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and a team player
  • Experience in documentation of some analytical concepts
  • Flexibility to adapt to projects of differing scope/change priorities
  • Experience with relational databases and concepts
  • Familiarity with SQL and/or UNIX

Required Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, or related field
  • 3+ years experience working in healthcare and/or Medicaid
  • 3+ years experience working with medical claims and/or encounter data
  • 2+ years experience in a management role

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • 5 years experience working in Healthcare and/or Medicaid
  • Experience with SQL Server
