Position: Clinical Data Manager
Location: Raleigh, NC (RTP), San Jose, CA, Cambridge, MA (Boston)

Job Description:
The AI Training Data Curation Team is a team of Data Engineers, Clinical Data Scientists and Software Developers within IBM Watson Health Imaging. In collaboration with cross-functional Watson Health teams, IBM Research and external medical partners, the team develops robust tools for automated data curation and supports expert manual annotation of large scale medical data sets. The team is responsible for ensuring the utmost quality of our greatest asset: data sets that will be used for training the next generation of AI tools to enhance clinical decision making.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop the overall annotation plan to be executed by an annotation manager
  • Define annotator, equipment and site requirements (eg, board-certification, number of years of experience, use of FDA-cleared monitors, etc)
  • Develop and communicate detailed annotation protocols directly to radiologists
  • Provide support to radiologists in the annotation process through training, answering questions, and workload management using proprietary data curation and annotation tools
  • Assess de-identified medical data and annotations for quality control purposes

Required Professional and Technical Expertise:
  • 7+ years in one or both
    1. Medical imaging domain: Breast imaging, Cardiac imaging, Brain imaging; and common imaging modalities: CT, X-ray, MRI, US
    2. Clinical information analytics domain: EMRs
  • Strong familiarity with handling, processing, and curating health data, especially medical images and reports
  • High standards for ensuring data quality
  • Strong project planning and documentation skills
  • Experience developing technical protocols in hospital IT or healthcare
  • Demonstrated communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise:
  • Some familiarity in at least one programming language, preferably Java (or Javascript, AngularJS, C# .NET)




Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 7+ years in one or both
    1. Medical imaging domain: Breast imaging, Cardiac imaging, Brain imaging; and common imaging modalities: CT, X-ray, MRI, US
    2. Clinical information analytics domain: EMRs
  • Strong familiarity with handling, processing, and curating health data, especially medical images and reports
  • High standards for ensuring data quality
  • Strong project planning and documentation skills
  • Experience developing technical protocols in hospital IT or healthcare
  • Demonstrated communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • A Master’s degree in life sciences or medical discipline


Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Some familiarity in at least one programming language, preferably Java (or Javascript, AngularJS, C# .NET)
