Position: Cognitive Software Engineer
Location: Durham, NC (RTP) or Rochester, MN

Job Description:
In this role, you will employ both rule and statistically based Natural Language Processing techniques to analyze patient records, medical literature and clinical trial descriptions. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining machine learning models for efficiency and scale. Using big data, you'll help improve accuracy through advanced NLP techniques such as Deep Learning. We're looking for candidates that can bring innovative approaches to this rapidly evolving space to solve complex healthcare problems.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise:
  • Solid understanding of Natural Language Processing / NLP
  • English Language Linguistics and Grammar skills
  • Strong Java skills
  • Strong Software Design and Object Oriented Architecture skills
  • Strong Development Practices with emphasis in Agile and Unit Testing
  • Team player and flexibility to pick up new skills
  • Always looking to improve development practices, tools, and processes

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise:
  • At least 2 years of experience with NLP and UIMA
  • Machine Learning experience
  • Python or other scripting / tooling languages
  • Experience with rules frameworks or rules based approaches
