Job Description

The Director of Technology Services position will direct IT infrastructure operations and have responsibility for delivering a global portfolio of projects and services across the company. This individual will manage a talented technical team along with a number of managed service providers. Activities include operation and maintenance of operating systems across multiple platforms, middleware applications, various database technologies, high availability solutions and load balancing. Job responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following: operation and maintenance of operating systems and platform support, database administration, capacity planning, performance management, security compliance. Support is also provided for systems management tools which monitor the operational status of the environment. The candidate will contribute to and focus on individual/team/department/ operational objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management
  • Oversee technology operations team and evaluate them according to established goals
  • Develop reliable metrics for hardware, software and storage while ensuring strategic capacity planning
  • Communicate clearly with staff as well as members and vendors
  • Oversee the operation of server and database systems
  • Direct and support implementation of software and hardware upgrades
  • Identify and recommend new technology solutions that we can implement in our department
  • Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs
  • Purchase efficient and cost effective technological equipment and software
  • Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to upper management
  • Provide guidance and coordinate with platform engineers, technicians and other professionals
  • Control budget and report on expenditure


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of people and project management experience in a technology environment
  • 5+ years of related experience with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of information technology, strategic and process planning
  • Experience in the following technologies: enterprise storage system (e.g. EMC or IBM), Linux and Windows servers administration, virtual and cloud environments (e.g VMWare), relational databases (e.g. Oracle), and various network infrastructures (e.g. Cisco)
  • Experience providing IT solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of systems and their specifications
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication abilities


Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • ITIL or other service management framework experience and expertise
  • Experience in healthcare focused implementations and healthcare regulatory issues and health information management
  • Experience with HIPAA and HITRUST security policies and implementations
  • Experience with DevOps technologies, practices and processes.
  • Experience with software development life cycle practices
  • Experience with Java in a Linux environment
  • Experience in controlling information technology budget
