Job Description
The Dir, AI Leadership Communications will be part of highly effective team that drives IBM thought leadership and IBM’s unique point of view on AI for external audiences and is responsible for enhancing the IBM brand. You will be a strategic, innovative thinker, detail-oriented and expert collaborator who is able to conceive big ideas, and engage others in their execution and delivery.

Responsibilities include:
  • Strategic, focused approach to positioning IBM as an AI leader
  • Focused on both telling the technology story and developing and executing thought leadership campaigns around jobs/skills/economic impact and more related to AI.
  • Drive external thought leadership campaigns on AI/Technology
  • Serve as the trusted communications advisor to senior executives, and develop an external leadership 'point of view' for communication to targeted external audiences in alignment with IBM’s business objectives
  • Manage a team of experienced and talented communications professionals and help them succeed
  • Partner with strategic and corporate communications extended teams (employee communications, public relations, analyst relations, investor relations) and others to ensure message alignment in support of the company's corporate strategy
  • Partner with the company's speakers bureau to develop speaking platforms and strategies, assess requests and proactively determine opportunities
  • Participate in developing high quality content, and demonstrate expert understanding of complex technologies, products, and market challenges
Location : New York or Washington DC


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 8-10 years' experience in a Communications role with both internal and external exposure
  • 3 years experience in technology or industry-specific topics
  • Demonstrated ability of advising C-suite level executives in a large and complex environment
  • Track-record for developing thought-leadership campaigns and content
  • Agency/Inhouse experience
  • Management experience
  • Writing skills
    ability to write for different mediums with different content approaches, including long form articles, by-liners, speeches, tweets, blogs, videos, webcasts, etc.
  • Creative ability
    story telling, willingness to innovate, passion for design,
  • Personal qualities – strong leader, enthusiastic, loves to learn, attention to detail, ability to work collaboratively across divers cultures and time zones, highly creative, ability to operate in a high pace and complex environment, professionally mature
