Your Role and Responsibilities
- The Site Reliability Engineering Team (SRE) ensures the service is highly available and fully optimized in a 24/7 environment. In a SRE role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and resiliency of our systems. If you are passionate about optimizing, building automation, solving problems, testing, deploying and managing highly-scalable environments, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
- In this role, you will be part of a global SRE team who works closely with our development and product teams to increase the quality and reliability for our products and services. You will also deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters on IBM Cloud and other public Cloud providers such as AWS. As an SRE, you must be willing to work in a fast paced Cloud environment, share rotational on-call duty coverage with the global SRE team and support the back-end Cloud infrastructure components.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain highly available products and services on Cloud
- Design and implement various aspects of Cloud services including deployment, monitoring, alerting, logging and disaster recovery
- Act as trusted advisors for clients to support and resolve Cases and Incidents.
- Identify issues and drive them to resolution while ensuring minimal downtime
- Develop Runbooks to capture steps and procedures to resolve commonly encountered issues
- Automate repetitive tasks using scripts and tools to reduce manual interventions
- Collaborate with development teams to roll out new services, ensure stability and reliability
- Improve and innovate operational practices to ensure efficiency

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing critical customer issues requiring ongoing communication with customer, product development and product support teams.
- Working knowledge in Linux/Unix administration
- Working knowledge with at least one major public Cloud provider (IBM Cloud, Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure)
- Working knowledge with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker)
- Working knowledge with maintaining and scaling Kubernetes-based applications on Cloud Infrastructure
- Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python, Go, Jenkins, Ansible)
- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL datastores
- Basic understanding of Cloud storage and networking
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Passion for building and maintaining reliable and resilient systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects, while ensuring that commitments and timetables are met“
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Experience with GitOps / ArgoCD deployment pipeline
• Experience with observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Instana)
• Experience with any source version control system (e.g., Github)
• Experience with Cloud storage and networking
