Your Role and Responsibilities

You will be part of the team whose mission is to develop, test, deploy, and operate new technologies for the world to use. Observability tools enable insights into the internal state of complex distributed systems allowing administrators, operators, and developers to rapidly diagnose problems, automate remediation actions, and help maintain the system in desired state. As an observability tools developer, you will design, develop, and integrate monitoring/sensing tools and technologies at various hardware and software layers. You will develop mechanisms to analyze datasets collected for generating insights into the internal state of the system and to enable automated and manual actions. You will collaborate with researchers, architects, technical leads, developers, and SREs to enable smart integrated monitoring, logging, tracing, and analysis of the entire Quantum computing stack. • Collect and analyze system monitoring and management metrics to understand and manage and the state of the software and systems deployed
• Develop and integrate monitoring, logging, and tracing tools at multiple levels of the software stack using common data formats, common interfaces, and data stores
• Develop analytics for insights generation and problem determination
• Work closely with the UI/UX teams to enable system management from common dashboard for integrated system management
• Work close with deployment and operations teams to integrate system management workflows in response to scheduled management events and unanticipated events detected
• Create correlations across metrics, logs, and traces collected across the stack to develop insights into system availability, reliability, and performance issues experienced in production and provide feedback to operators, developers, and architects
• Participate in design and code reviews and write documentation.

This position is located in the Yorktown Heights, NY area or possible remote. Relocation is available to the Yorktown Heights NY area.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 3-5 years of software development experience related to system monitoring, measurements, and analysis of hardware and software runtimes with large code base
• Excellent programming skills in Python and/or C++
• Deep understanding of asynchronous programming, proficient in concurrency, parallelism, vertical/horizontal scaling and caching
• Experience working with distributed systems and with cloud services including microservices and messaging systems
• Practitioner of agile development practices with hands-on experience in CI automation, debugging, testing, profiling, code reviews and pair programming
• Strong short delivery cycles mindset
• Experience working with large datasets and data analysis
• Strong oral and written communication skills


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Experience working with statistical modeling and machine learning tools
• Experience with open source Qiskit framework or other quantum computing programming environments
• Applied knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Typescript
• Applied knowledge of modern UI technologies such as React
• Ability to visualize datasets to extract meaningful insights from measurements will be a plus
