Research Staff Scientist – Quantum (Any Location)

IBM Quantum is developing full-stack quantum computing, consisting of all relevant hardware and software solutions. We are looking for a researcher to join the “Quantum Algorithms and Complexity Research” team that works on topics such as design and analysis of quantum algorithms, quantum computational complexity theory, formal investigation of quantum advantage, as well as experimental implementation and demonstration of quantum advantage. The focus of the group is on determining areas where quantum computers have a potential advantage, understanding, developing and improving quantum algorithms, and studying quantum computational complexity. Collaboration with other members of the broader IBM Quantum team is encouraged. Responsibilities include developing quantum algorithms, providing formal evidence for quantum advantage, and advancing the understanding of problems that can be sped up by quantum computers.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field
- Proven expertise in quantum computing
- Proven record of research achievements
