Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Research at Albany, NY is looking for a Senior Technologist to lead the definition, development, and qualification of ESD HBM and CDM devices integrated into next generation
CMOS technology nodes.

Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Research at Albany, NY is looking for a Senior Technologist to lead the definition, development, and qualification of ESD HBM and CDM devices integrated into next generation
CMOS technology nodes.
The responsibilities inherent to this position are as follows:
- Define and develop industry-standard ESD/Latchup protection solutions and design-of-experiments (DOE) based on it for early evaluation in advanced CMOS technology nodes.
- Define and design HBM and CDM test macros for electrical characterization at wafer and package level.
- Create / own all ESD/Latchup-related design ground rules, design manual content, and ground rule waivers.
- Define end-to-end qualification plans for qualification plans in accordance with existing JEDEC specifications.
- Define electrical test plans compatible with industry-standard test platforms and test methodology.
- Perform analysis of electrical data obtained from electrical wafer/package-level test.
- Drive submissions to failure analysis to classify failure and defect modes from electrical test and reliability stresses.
- Collaborate with process integration engineers to address potential design/process sensitivities.
- Collaborate with the Characterization and Reliability teams towards a technology qualification of the ESD/Latchup CMOS elements.
- Work with circuit IO Design Teams to co-optimize I/O and ESD performance.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 15+ years of experience with ESD and Latchup protection development and characterization, with a proven track record of successful technology qualifications.
- Solid understanding of the CMOS processing flow.
- Solid experience with setting up wafer and package-level testing capabilities.
- Characterization of large amounts of electrical data using standard tools and programming languages.
- Deep understanding of ESD models and underlying electrical test concepts used in the lab or on the manufacturing flow.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Solid-State Physics, or other related fields, and 10+ years of hands- on experience in the industry.
- Team Lead of people manager experience is a plus.
- Membership / organizational role in an ESD-focused professional organization is a plus.
