Quantum Engagement Manager (Chicago, IL Location)

Your Role and Responsibilities
The Partner Team at IBM Quantum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engagement Manager to join our elite team of quantum computing experts. As an Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for managing partnerships with our Quantum Innovation centers (QICs), which are a group of premium partners that are leaders in quantum computing. You will work closely with local universities and national labs to ensure the success of our QIC partnerships in the Chicago and broader Midwest region.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a creative problem-solver with a growth mindset and a quick learner. You will work with technical teams within IBM Quantum, as well as product, marketing, and business development teams to align plans across all dimensions of the partnership.
You will be responsible for executing and ensuring delivery of successful outcomes, including training individuals and groups on quantum computing and IBM Quantum’s offerings, driving adoption and usage of IBM Quantum offerings, and driving new opportunities within these strategic partners.
You will have significant autonomy and flexibility in the performance of your role, and will work with people across the board at IBM. Successful attributes for this role include excellent organization, having exceptional project management skills, and being skilled at fostering teamwork and input from all. This role will require co-location with local institutions 1-2 times per week and will be based in the Greater Chicago Area.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of research or development experience in the field of quantum computing
- 3+ years of experience in business or technology strategy consulting or similar experience, with demonstrably successful interactions with clients.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- PhD degree in quantum information, physics, computer science, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and managing large partnerships,
- Experience executing multiple, complex demand plans with partners,
- Understanding of AI, Cloud Computing, SaaS, and other relevant classical computing and data center technologies.
