Your Role and Responsibilities

Many of our clients have been using our mainframes for their critical mission-critical systems for several decades. Many customers are building new systems or migrating to the cloud, but we continue to be the platform of choice for secure and stable operation. Robustness of a system cannot be achieved by machines and software alone, but also by the people who support them. As software specialists, we are engaged in daily operation and maintenance activities to keep these enterprise systems running stably.

As a partner to our customers, we not only support the day-to-day operation of their systems, but also work with them to resolve current issues and develop a migration plan to the next-generation system in consideration of the system’s life cycle. We are looking for engineers who are trusted by our customers and have not only technical skills but also communication and conceptual abilities.

This service is provided to all IBM Japan group customers in all industries/areas including finance, manufacturing, distribution, and public sector, but this position will be with a customer in the insurance industry.

Maintain, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade and technical Q&A of software running on mainframes.
System inventory management.

Promote DX-ization of service delivery.

The engineer supporting the enterprise systems used in critical systems that support various social infrastructures is a very important position both inside and outside the company. Although also referred to as legacy systems, they continue to evolve as platforms that support hybrid cloud and AI and are a fascinating area of technology.
You will have many opportunities to communicate with the product development and support departments, and feel the global working environment.

Hardware: IBM zSystems (z16, etc.)
OS: zOS
Middleware: IMS, Db2, CICS, MQ, zWAS, zOS Connect, etc.

You are interested in infrastructure, including hardware and OS.

You are interested in the latest technologies and are eager to learn and deploy them.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
・Experience with mainframes (construction and maintenance)
・Ability to build interpersonal relationships and communicate with customers
English communication (reading, writing)
・Ability to manage tasks and schedules independently
