Your Role and Responsibilities
Your role:

The Principal Network Engineer role is part of TLS Center which compiles of teams, working on a Cisco Technology- Security.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Initial point of contact for resolving customer raised network related voice, email, and web service requests specific to Networking equipment
  • Provide problem determination / problem source identification for known and published problems within a fast-paced environment while achieving high levels of accuracy
  • Follow Support Center processes for effective management of assigned support incidents
  • This position will require ongoing skills development activities in networking and technical support

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Candidates should have a solid understanding of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model, including its seven layers, and be able to explain the purpose and functions of each layer.

  • Layers 1 through 4 Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in L1 through 4 of the OSI model is essential. This includes familiarity with physical layer concepts (layer 1), data link layer protocols (layer 2), network layer addressing and routing (layer 3), and transport layer protocols (layer 4).
  • Network Device Configuration: Ability to configure and troubleshoot network devices such as switches and routers at a basic level, including knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, and VLANs.
  • Network Protocols: Familiarity with common network protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, ARP, and ICMP, HSRP, OSPF, EIGRP and understanding of their functionalities in the context of the OSI model.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Basic troubleshooting skills for network connectivity issues at L1 through 4, including cable testing, link status, and network traffic analysis.
  • Networking Concepts: A good grasp of fundamental networking concepts, including network topologies, routing protocols, and network security principles.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for documenting network configurations and communicating with team members and end-users
  • Eagerness to Learn: A proactive attitude towards learning and staying updated with the latest networking technologies and industry trends.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team, collaborating with senior engineers and other departments to resolve network-related challenges.
  • Certifications (Desirable): While not mandatory, certifications like Cisco’s CCNA or CompTIA Network+ can be beneficial and demonstrate a commitment to advancing networking knowledge
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English (B2-C2 level)


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience in a technical support role, with any enterprise class Networking equipment and formal Cisco certification is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or similar technical field
