Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Employees in this role use design documentation, such as Functional Specifications and high-level design documents to develop IBM hardware and technology products including server systems, storage systems and networking systems.
  • They also ensure that the components are unit tested and ready to be integrated into the system product. Hardware Developers also provide fixes to defects identified by the verification team during the development life cycle. This role develops designs across the disciplines of mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineering; tests the functional and RAS (reliability, availability, and serviceability) aspects of the implementation; and supports customer environments in providing end-to-end solutions and resolution of issues. Works on delivering quality systems to meet market needs. Establishes relations across IBM and with external suppliers/vendors. The employee guides functional objectives or technologies.
  • Skills: Environment: Professional knowledge related to incumbent’s function/business unit and its processes. Communication/Negotiation: Advise other professionals. Effectively utilize group dynamics.
  • Negotiate to define approaches and goals. Problem Solving: Recognize complex problems related to functional objectives. Creativity and judgment applied to developmental work on different projects within the business environment.
  • Contribution/Leadership: Provides ongoing technical /operational guidance to lead professional work teams, conducts special projects, or manages department(s) (national or international). Understand department/ functional mission and vision. Defines and decides objectives within specified business concept or project and may have responsibility for tools and assigned resources. Utilizes expertise to directly influence people outside department or function. Sometimes no precedent exists.
  • Impact on Business/Scope: Accountable for department results and for activities and/or projects involving multi-functional teams. Regularly participates in overall functional program planning. Activities are subject to business measurements, impact customer satisfaction, and impact project costs or expenses.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Test Board Designer: Electrical and Mechanical Design Skills to Create Device Interface Boards and Front End Hardware used for Wafer & Module Test and Burn In.
  • Automated Test Equipment and Clean Room Test Floor Operations Skills.


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Cadence PCB Design tools,Allegro,Design Entry HDL, MS Excel, Agile Tools.
  • High Impact Contribution, Leadership, Communication, Problem Solving, Team Dynamics Utilization, and Negotiation Skills.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
