Not just to do something better, but to attempt things you’ve never thought possible. Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world’s most challenging problems? If so, lets talk.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Staff AI/MLOps Development Engineer at Apptio, you will work closely with the Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Designers in helping our customers discover new savings opportunities in hybrid cloud environments. Above all, you will work as a technical leader to provide our customers with great products while helping to grow a strong engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a critical role in setting the MLOPs platform direction and goals for a sizable team, in terms of project impact, ML system design, and ML excellence.
  • Be a go-to person to escalate the most complex online/production performance and evaluation issues, that require an in-depth knowledge of how the machine learning system and its components interact with systems around it.
  • Develop and deploy AI models using machine learning techniques such as deep learning, neural networks, and chatbots.
  • Apply GenAI models as part of the solution and ensure proper cloud or on-prem application pipeline with production-ready quality.
  • Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create effective feature roadmap.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate and develop an MLops framework and be aware of trade-offs of multiple approaches.
  • Understand the on-going work and priorities within the team and help plan for the upcoming tasks within the sprint and beyond.
  • Partner with the product team to understand the problem space, the competitive landscape and constraints and help deliver engineering solutions that work both for the customer and IBM.
  • Lead design/code reviews, provide direction, implement features with high quality secure code, improve test coverage, performance and observability.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Solid professional experience with modern software development methodologies, including Agile/Kanban, CI/CD, and DevOps.
  • Solid professional software development experience.
  • Solid experience designing and implementing AI/MLOps infrastructure (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems with some directly focused on Data Integration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Java, Go, Scala, C++, or C#.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based integration platforms and services.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented approach to development.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experienced with modern API design and implementations.
  • Advanced understanding of data governance, security, and privacy considerations related to data integration.
  • Experience with Linux-based integrated development environments, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional customer focus, ownership, and drive.
  • Demonstrated capability to provide depth and breadth technical leadership.
