Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Consulting’s Asset Engineering Services is looking for a highly skilled Backend developer to join this dynamic, global team to deliver outstanding results for both internal and external clients and IBM Business Partners. You will be working with highly collaborative teams in a dynamic and agile environment.
Our organization’s mission is to create assets (software products) for IBM Consulting and to provide end-to-end software engineering services to our clients that leverage these assets. There a several IBM Consulting assets in play for this role.
You will be responsible for developing new features across multiple products, interpreting business requirements and developing backend business logic functionality. You will also support our client deliveries and solving client issues and defects that users encounter in our products.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements into the server-side logic
• Creating reusable code and libraries for future use
• Optimizing the application for speed and scalability
• Implementing security measures and data protection
• Designing and implementing data storage solutions

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Strong in Golang and Node.js
• Knows scripting languages like Python and/or Bash
• Medium/Strong Kubernetes knowledge
• Experience in working with databases (PostgreSQL, Neo4j)
• Experience in working and creating GraphQL based APIs

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Open to work with any other scripting/programming language (eg PowerShell)
• Experience in containers (Docker etc)

Other Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Backend Developer or similar role.
• Strong understanding of web development principles and best practices.
• Experience working independently in a remote or office environment. Self- discipline is a must.
• The developer will also be supporting multiple applications simultaneously, so he/she must be able switch between tasks quickly.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in a fast-paced setting.
• Effective communication skills and willingness to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be willing to work at least morning hours on the US east coast. Working full US hours is preferred.
