Introduction
This role within the sales process is to fully understand a prospect’s business problem and construct a solution around that problem leveraging IBM products. The Solutions Architect exhibits a high level of sales and business maturity, operates independently in pre-sales activities and has the proven ability to quickly understand business problems and find the appropriate IBM technology offerings and differentiators.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:
1. WebMethods Platform Knowledge:
  • Proficiency with core components of the webMethods suite: Integration Server, API Gateway, Trading Networks, Universal Messaging, Designer, and Monitor.
  • Familiarity with webMethods Integration Cloud for hybrid integration scenarios and managing cloud-based applications.
2. API Design and Management:
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing RESTful and SOAP APIs.
  • Understanding of API security and governance, including OAuth, JWT, and SSL/TLS encryption.
  • Knowledge of API versioning, lifecycle management, and best practices for developing APIs that support scalability and reliability.
3. Integration Patterns and Architecture:
  • Strong grasp of integration patterns such as orchestration, publish-subscribe, batch processing, and request-reply.
  • Ability to design solutions based on microservices or SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) principles to support modular and reusable integrations.
4. Data Transformation and Mapping:
  • Proficiency in data mapping and transformation for multiple formats, including XML, JSON, EDI, and flat files.
  • Experience with XSLT, XPath, and built-in webMethods mapping tools for efficient data transformations between systems.
5. B2B Integration and Messaging Protocols:
  • Familiarity with B2B protocols like EDI, AS2, RNIF, and knowledge of industry-specific standards to manage data exchanges with external partners.
  • Experience with messaging protocols and middleware, such as JMS and MQ, for asynchronous and real-time data exchange.
6. Database and SQL:
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and NoSQL databases for integration.
  • Proficiency in JDBC configuration and SQL for data retrieval, updates, and integration within the webMethods environment.
7. Troubleshooting and Debugging:
  • Strong skills in debugging and troubleshooting integration flows and resolving errors in webMethods Designer and Integration Server.
  • Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and Optimize for Infrastructure to identify and resolve performance issues.
8. Scripting and Basic Programming:
  • Proficiency in Java and JavaScript for custom logic and enhancements within webMethods.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Groovy) to support automation and lightweight scripting tasks.
9. Performance Optimization:
  • Understanding of performance tuning techniques to optimize integration workflows, data processing, and messaging in webMethods.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and best practices to ensure high availability and low latency in integrations.
10. Security and Compliance:
Knowledge of **authentication and authorization protocols** such as OAuth, SAML, and basic encryption techniques to ensure secure integrations.
Awareness of data privacy and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and their application in integration solutions


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Required Professional and Technical Expertise :
• Multiple years of practical architecture and design with Integration, B2B & API technologies.
Multiple years of experience with webMethods
Data Integration and Hybrid Integration background strongly desired
• Competency in various languages (e.g. Java, C/C++, Node.js, Python, R, Swift, .NET) and knowledge of J2EE.
• Multiple years in Consulting management role including, business development, mentoring, technology solutions development and relationship management.
• Experience with Business Infrastructure concepts and technologies (API, SOA, Microservices, ESB, SOAP/REST, Docker, Kubernetes, VMWare, Azure, GCP, AWS)​​​​​​


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

Expertise in the Automation Market: Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the automation market, enabling you to consult with clients and build trust (training on IBM’s Automation offerings will be provided).

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.

This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you. We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable law.
